Christmas With the Barnetts
Because Devin and I are spending our first Christmas together in Maryland, Christmas with my family was scheduled a little early. After work we scrambled to get out to Highland Park and actually made it on time!
Dinner was excellent and the Harrington Ham, supplied annually by my uncle, was very scrumptious. The spinach and portobellas we had with it went very well and Dad, as usual, made some kickass rolls.
The gift exchange exceeded all expectations. Thinking I was going to be borrowing my brother's roller-suitcase, Mom and Dad hooked me up with a nice set of luggage from TravelPro. I've been needing "real" luggage for a long time since I've always used my collection of duffel bags.
My parents gave Devin a really hot DKNY winter jacket that when she wears it, makes her look like she's an Aspen snow bunny. Grrrrr.
We were also spoiled with some board games, gift certificates, clothes and candy.
My family got some cool gifts from us - Collin got Nascar 2005 for his Xbox, Dad got a shirt/tie set from Express (which fits him perfectly - always a challenge) and Mom a bling-ish broach. Hope she likes it...
This will be my first Christmas away from home...it's a raw deal either way but I think this is the best arrangement we could have made. Times are 'a changin...
