A Word Or Two About Yesterday

I'm going to use more than two words. By now, the media is cautiously calling George W. Bush the winner of the election. It was a close race, in some states. But a very clear majority of The United States want George W. Bush to be president for 4 more years. And unless you are a devout and/or fundamentalist Christian I suppose the only other reason to vote for Bush was that Kerry and the Democrats didn't have much to offer you. There are two big reasons why I wanted Kerry to win. First, I want to see continued progress on social issues and legal interpretation made within the Supreme Court. Second, I have more faith in the economy or at least *my ability* to benefit from the economy with a Democrat in the White House. That was the real problem this election year. There just were not enough reasons to vote for Kerry. Only reasons not to vote for Bush. And you can't elect a president with that precident. I hope the Democrats are smart and concede the election as soon as possible. Any bitterness over the election in the form of charges of intimidation, miscounts, etc. are just going to hurt the party in the long run. And it's making the "MSM" as the conservative bloggers call it look bad even though the only reason they're holding out for Kerry is to keep people watching and not because they hope John Kerry wins. I also hope the bitterness in American politics calms down after the election. Because I'm fucking sick of it. The winners of the 2004 Election: Illinois and Barack Obama. I take back what I said when I saw his first campaign sign in Chicago: "How is somebody with a name that sounds and looks like Osama going to win an election?" I'm looking forward to following Mr. Obama's political career... I was just listening to Radiohead - Karma Police
